Thistle Industries is a leading Canadian manufacturer of commutators. Located in Barrie, Ontario, the family owned operation began in 1990.
Thistle Industries is owned and operated by Daniel Beggs, who has
been working in the commutator industry since 1979. He began his
career building large volume railway commutators and small moulded
commutators for the automotive industry.
In 1990, he opened up his manufacturing facility to better serve the
needs of the motor rewind industry. In 1992 his youngest son Marcus
Beggs joined the company as a machinist. Today, Marcus Beggs
continues to work at Thistle Industries, playing a larger management
and production role.
His eldest son Lucas pursued a career specializing in automation and
engineering. By 2001, Lucas began their successful sister company,
the Electric Motor Coil Company (EMCC), a leading manufacturer of
motor coils.
Since then, Thistle Industries has broadened their product offerings
through this unique partnership.
Products offered by Thistle
Industries and EMCC now include stator coils, traction coils and
armature coils. Located in factories, side by side, the partnership
provides seamless project management and service delivery benefits.
